Deck Installation Details
POTENTIAL COLLAPSE HAZARDS
It is estimated that as much as 50 % of the decks constructed in the United States have subtandard installation practices, which could lead to a collapse. The one in this photo is on its way.  Click here for more details and an informative CBS Early Show Video called "Deck Dangers"

Polybutylene Plumbing

POTENTIAL FOR PIPING FAILURE AND WATER DAMAGE

Polybutylene plumbing can be found in homes built in the mid 70's to the mid 90's and is often grey, but can also be black or blue in color. This plumbing has a higher incidence of failure under normal operating conditions, and failure results in leaks, and a potential for water damage. See http://millerhomeinspect.com/PolybutylenePlumbing.aspx for more information.
